Social Studies

The Social Studies Department provides students with the opportunity to understand the world’s differing societies, governments, institutions and cultures. Through the knowledge students receive in their History and Social Studies courses, they will develop an understanding of and an appreciation for their own unique culture and will be able to be sensitive to the other cultures of the world. Having established a sense of being American citizens, students can relate to also being global citizens and be prepared to question, to challenge, and to analyze the issues of a modern and complex world.

Our course offerings expose our students to both domestic and world history topics. Courses currently offered in our curriculum are:

  • US History (AP)

  • Civics & Government

  • World History

  • Economics

  • US Government/Constitutional Law (AP)

  • Psychology (AP)

Department-offered extracurricular activities include the Stock Market Game and National History Day competitions.
